Under direct supervision of Director of Design, design communications, pieces, products and processes for people and institutions, performing Ethnographic design research, including interviews and observation. Synthesize data sets from various sources and develop clear concepts and frameworks, create compelling narrative from client information gathered, ensuring customer needs are met. Leverage whiteboard ideation techniques to elicit new ideas and illustrate them, scaffold, build and expand ideas and develop new thinking. Simplify data and insights into clear and concise frameworks for sharing with any audience. Build-out prototypes for product, service or system and propose solution. Test and hypothesize determination. Integrate above Human Centered Design Thinking to provide creative and business design strategies to client. Arrange salons, conferences / events to present Company work, discuss future initiatives. Create complex materials to convey sophisticated approaches, concepts and potential future scenarios for gathering new work. Pitch, evangelize to new and existing clients design services, branding and communications efforts, build community and culture across different networks, support and create educational opportunities like the Torino workshop. This is a telecommute position and requires regular meetings in Palo Alto, CA 2-3 days a week and occasional domestic travel required for workshops, conferences, clients visits. Telecommute position.
Master of Science or foreign degree equivalent in Engineering, Product Design,Mechanical Engineering or related field plus 1 year of pre- or post-Master’s experience as a Project Manager, Designer, Design Strategist or related using Human Centered Design Thinking strategies for systems, products or services. SPECIAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Experience is to include: 1) 1 year of pre or post Master’s experience or undergraduate or Master’s coursework with Ethnography interview skills. 2) 1 year of pre or post Master’s experience using whole process architecture approach for human centered design strategies. 3) 1 year of pre or post Master’s experience using design thinking techniques such as white boarding ideation, scaffolding, and storytelling through creating narratives. 4) 1 year of pre or post Master’s experience in selling design services through leading projects. 5) 1 year of pre or post Master’s experience working on internal branding and communications efforts. 6) 1 year of pre or post Master’s experience in designing and running workshops. 7) 1 year of pre or post Master’s experience in strategic consulting, creating and providing strategy presentations, frameworks, and insights for customers. 8 ) May telecommute from any US location and must have regular meetings in Palo Alto, CA 2-3 days a week and occasional domestic travel required for workshops, conferences, clients visits.
