Ewing Sarcoma Institute Logo

ESI Logo Banner

The Ewing Sarcoma Institute (ESI) is a new organization taking an innovative approach to support patients with this type of rare pediatric cancer. Its founder and leadership have worked for over 20 years to build collaborative relationships between the world’s top Ewing sarcoma researchers, and they recently formed the Institute to better coordinate global research efforts and accelerate the development of treatments. We designed a logo that communicates their goals of speed and progress while also commemorating the work and spirit of Rett Nearburg, whose eleven-year battle with Ewing sarcoma inspired the mission of ESI.

We did: Identity Design

ESI Logo Diagram
ESI founder Charles Nearburg’s son Rett was an artist, an early web experimenter, and along with Charles, a lover of cars and driving fast. The feeling of speed in the logo reflects both this personal connection and ESI’s mission to accelerate research. Rett’s website features a distinctive “R-dot” symbol, which we reoriented into a rightward arrow suggesting progress.
